BRITISH COLLIE OPEN SHOW HELD ON 1ST DECEMBER 2019

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation  to judge their Christmas show 2019 and to the exhibitors for their understanding of my mobility limitations following my recent foot operation. I was anxious not to spook any exhibit and certainly no exhibit appeared to react.

A lovely friendly atmosphere prevailed all day long and an excellent quality entry awaited me. The venue doesn’t lend itself to allow the exhibits to get into much of a stride but we all managed as best we could. Presentation was generally good, a few superb , a few however were let down considerably and were really quite dirty.

VETERAN DOG/BITCH (8, 1), A lovely class to start my day with.
1ST MULTI CH BROOKLYNSON MILEY SIRUS, Best veteran in breed, 7.5 year old golden sable bitch who is a lovely make and shape. Excellent upper arm and very sound on the move with excellent reach . Clean head properties but ears could be a tad tighter but a lovely girl non the less. In the challenge for BVIS couldn’t match the sparkle of the lovely smooth, so had to give way. A worthy champion.
2nd NIKAL IT'S GOOD TO BE BLACK VW, Best Rough veteran dog, 8.5 year old tri boy in excellent condition.  Presented well and moved with purpose and drive to earn a good place here in this nice class.
3rd ERJON EMMA JEAN WITH HIGHNOL JW SCHEX

MINOR PUPPY DOG (2,1)
1st LADNAR MUSTRIHARDER, raw looking 6.5 mths old tri as his name indicates. Good depth of body and good bone to match. Lovely dense black and rich tan markings. Moved well, just needs stop to clear a fraction to enhance his expression. A very promising young boy who will have a good future I’m sure.

PUPPY DOG (2,1)
1st CORYDON POL ROGER, Best Rough Dog Puppy, 9 mth old blue who has a certain charisma about him. Very sound on the move and was very well presented and handled. I’d prefer a slightly larger eye. He is a quality dog , perhaps a tad more length of back would be ideal . I hope his colour clears as I think he too will make a name for himself with time.

JUNIOR DOG (1)
1st CORYDON DOM PERIGNON, tri brother to the previous class winner. Good length of back and also very sound on the move. Nice tan markings. Stop needs to clear.

MAIDEN DOG (2,1)
1st C POL ROGER

NOVICE DOG (1)
1st C DOM PERIGNON

GRADUATE DOG (1, 1)

POST GRADUATE DOG (2)

1st MOONDANCE DE CABRENYSSET FOR BRIHOW (IMP FRA) Best Rough Dog, 3.5 year old blue in superb condition. Exquisite colour and well broken markings and his lovely dark eyes enhance his expression. Moved well and with drive. Superbly presented and quietly handled to get the best from him. A lovely boy.
2nd STARLENGA HARRY POTTER, Smaller type than the winner although balanced for his size. Ears could be smaller but he has a soft eye. Skull could be cleaner.  Excellently presented and handled.

LIMIT DOG (3,1)
1st JOPIUM DANNY BOY AT LINGWELL, Reserve Best Rough Dog, 3 year old handsome looking sable.  Excellent depth of chest and he has super bone. Soft eye and expression. Good length of back. Well presented and gently handled.
2nd ANIESH TOUCH OF BLACK, Almost 6 years old tri who didn’t have the finish in coat of the winner and was a touch finer all through. Moved with enthusiasm but a bit erratically.  Ears could be slightly better tipped.

OPEN DOG No entries

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (2)
1st  CHANTIQUE DEJA VU. Best Rough puppy and ultimately BEST PUPPY IN SHOW. 7.5 mths old charming sable and white who was enjoying her day out. Very well balanced body lines and a quality head and expression. Super neck and superb presentation. In the best puppy in breed challenge it was  a close decision,  both were “enjoying” their day out a bit too much but every time she stood she came to a halt correctly but she clinched it on length of back and expression. The smooth judge Mr Josh Blackburn agreed for her to be BPIS. Congratulations
2nd ELSHAJO ADORED, Very similar puppy who was actually a few weeks older than the winner. Lovely neck and again super presentation. The tighter ear set of the winner with marginally better bone clinched it for the winner but non the less two quality puppies.

PUPPY BITCH (3,0)
1st CORYDON CRISTAL, Very nice 9 mths old tri sister of the Puppy and Junior dog winners. Another from this kennel with good balance and movement. Appealing white facial markings which enhances her expression. She has a reachy neck and good ears and was  a steady show girl.
3rd ATLANTA WHITE CHRISTMAS

JUNIOR BITCH (2) 2 quality but different girls
1ST BELDONES ENABLE, Quality sable of a lovely size and balance with a correct length of back. Good neck with such a quality head and expression with the correctly set eye. She has a good upper arm and stood correctly but wasn't too happy with the floor surface  today. A lovely bitch who will have better days.
2nd LYNMEAD LEMONADE FOR COLLINGVALE, Slightly older than the winner but a tad finer all through. I liked her size and she has a good neck. Good length of head and expression. Hope her colour clears with maturity. Well presented and handled.

MAIDEN BITCH (3,0)
1st C CRISTAL
2nd CHANTIQUE OOH LA LA, litter sister to the MPB winner and very similar to her, maybe just a tad smaller all over. Lovely reachy neck. Good foreface and used her ears well. Excellent presentation. A bit exuberant on the move but a lovely temperament.
3rd A WHITE CHRISTMAS

NOVICE BITCH (3,1)
1st C CRISTAL
2ND A WHITE CHRISTMAS, Almost 12 mths old sable of a nice e size. Well presented and carrying a nice coat but needs more ring training. Ears a tad wide set.

GRADUATE BITCH (3,1)
1st L LEMONADE FOR COLLINGVALE
2ND BRECKAMORE BLACK NO SUGAR, 3.5 year old tri colour.  Liked her neck and she has rich tan markings. Would prefer a leaner skull and presentation was disappointing.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (1,1)

LIMIT BITCH (5,0)
This was by far the best class of the day, just lovely.
1ST HANVALE POLLY SHELBY JW, Just loved this girl who at not quite 2 years old has still to reach her best. Loved her body lines and the elegance she personified. Expression is gorgeous – everything just screams balance. Superb presentation and handling and my co judge was in complete agreement for her to be BEST IN  SHOW. Thank you for bringing her.
2nd TOP LESS GOLDMANIS (imp ukr), Sweet sable who couldnt match the winner for her length of back but has a lovely neck and was well presented and handled and was in carrying a good coat. Chased closely by the third place who was another lovely bitch.
3rd LADNAR INKHEART JW, Super soundness on this tri but she couldn’t match the sweetness of those above her and wasn’t carrying the coat to challenge harder.
A SUPER CLASS

OPEN BITCH (5,3)
1ST CH BELDONES LA VITA BELLA FOR HANVALE JW, Reserve Best bitch and Reserve Best of Breed. 3.5 year old sable who is the mother of the limit winner and they are so alike and indeed many of my thoughts and comments apply to this lady also. In super bloom and again so very well, presented. A natural showgirl using her super ears all the time. A quality champion.
2nd COLLINGVALE CHARDONNAY, 6.5 year old sable in good bloom and another who showed well. A fraction shorter coupled than the winner and she couldn’t challenge the winner on her super moulded head properties. Non the less a quality girl  who moved really well and was excellently presented as usual from this exhibitor.
